Rialto Sinopia is a premium interior lime plaster with a soft, velvet/suede-like finish, crafted from magnesiac seasoned slaked lime (aged for at least 24 months), coloured earths, inorganic pigments, and carefully selected marble aggregates according to granulometric criteria. Available in over 50 delicate colour tones, its smooth, tactile texture enhances spaces with subtle, multi-sensorial colour effects that invite touch and enrich spatial experiences.
This mineral-based, eco-friendly coating supports healthier indoor air quality by ensuring breathability, reducing moisture buildup, and naturally inhibiting mould and bacteria growth. Its high alkalinity helps prevent the formation of mould, making it an excellent choice for maintaining cleaner, healthier interiors. For added water repellency, apply Rialto Fix 210, a transparent finishing solution based on neutralized amino-functional polydimethylsiloxane that preserves the velvet/suede-like effect while increasing surface protection. Historical Significance
The name Sinopia comes from a red ochre variety sourced from Sinop, a key Black Sea port in Turkey. Declared a Roman colony by Julius Caesar in 47 BC (Colonia Julia Felix Sinope), Sinop prospered through the trade of red ochre and other inland resources.
Sinopite, meaning “red earth,” was historically used for preliminary fresco and mural drawings. Essential to artists in early stages, it played a crucial role in classical artwork. Recent studies have reaffirmed the cultural importance of these preparatory drawings.
