Fine lime paint for interiors and exteriors
Rialto Epoca Ottocento is made with seasoned slaked lime, natural pigments, inorganic oxides, and mineral additives, it offers a high-quality and durable finish. It is different to a lime wash as it is thicker, which gives better coverage and more texture in the final finish. Its decorative appearance is characterized by a distinctive “water-colour” effect, reminiscent of ancient lime-based paints, bringing a timeless and elegant aesthetic to surfaces.

Working Instructions
If working at height, prepare scaffolding so as to allow continuous application until architectural impediments are encountered (string-courses, corners, joints, etc.)
On exterior patched plaster or surfaces with damaged old paint, remove old paint, level off entire surface using rialto wallcem and allow at least 24 hours before starting the finishing coating.
If the surface is sound and smooth but not compatible with application of lime based coating (bad adhesion), for example acrylic paints and coatings, apply one or two coats of adhesion promoter rialto fondo di aderenza and let it dry for at least 48 hours.
If the surface is dusty or too absorbent, apply a priming coat of anti-efflorescence rialto durasil and leave for at least 48 hours before applying rialto epoca ottocento.
For protection against salt efflorescence, apply a generous coat of rialto isocal to the dry surface and leave for at least 48 hours before applying rialto epoca ottocento.
On painted interior surfaces in good conditions, apply a coat of rialto eco fondo to promote a good adhesion of rialto epoca ottocento.
Stir thoroughly before use, making sure the product is well mixed; if not, use a mechanical mixer.
Apply using a brush, diluting the product to not more than 25% with water.
Allow 24 hours before applying next coat.
Do not apply at air surface temperature below 8°C (46°F) or exceeding 35°C (95°F) and relative humidity of the air over 75%.
Protect applied coat from rain for approximately 48 hours.
On exterior surfaces, white or pastel colours only are suggested.
Store the product at a temperature above 5°C (41°F) and not exceeding 30°C (86°F).
Disclaimers
Do not pick a colour from a screen.
Not suitable where there is evidence of damp, tannins (staining) or mould. Will not adhere to greasy surfaces, or surfaces protected with silicone or similar coatings.

New plaster, or an old painted wall?
Recommended
New plaster (once cured — at least 28 days) and old painted walls both need sealing first, or Epoca Ottocento's colour soaks in unevenly and goes on patchy. Rialto Eco Fondo seals the surface so your topcoat goes on even.

Do you have the right brush for this finish?
A stiff or narrow brush leaves lap marks in lime paint. This one — a wide, soft mix of natural and synthetic bristle — is made specifically for Epoca Ottocento and Velasil, so the finish goes on even.
