The challenge
A store refurbishment is never easy: the client wants a quick turnaround, because a shop that isn’t open isn’t making money. Refitting the Adidas store in the centre of London was always going to be a challenge, with lots of trades all competing for space and getting in each other’s way.
Why Politura
With speed the main challenge, the contractor chose Achtis’ Politura microcement. As a two-day system it’s quicker to install than other microcements, and it’s easy to work with: everything comes powdered and ready to mix.
The primer is extremely civil, it’s easy to apply and touch dry within a couple of hours at 20 °C, and the body coat just flows better than other micros making it easier to apply.

Why it was quicker
- The penetrating primer creates a bondable coating and is touch dry within a couple of hours at 20 °C.
- Politura’s polymer ratio means no extra primer is needed between layers.
- Quartz sand grains cut drying times compared with softer calcium-carbonate-filled products.
- The quartz adds strength, so fewer layers are needed.
- Sanding between coats is quicker, with much less dust.
