ErreLAB Porfido
Bold horizontal bands and a two-tone colour wash, inspired by Italian porphyry. A stone effect with real presence.
What it is
Porfido recalls porphyry, a volcanic stone prized in architecture for its strength. Base Pietra is spread in one coat, then beaten in alternating horizontal strips and lightly smoothed along them, giving parallel bands with a ‘corroded’ look.
When it’s dry and sanded, two colours of Velopietra glaze, about 80% main colour and 20% accent, are sponged on and blended along the bands. One coat of matt Top Clear, or clear Velatura on walls, protects it.
Porfido is for indoor floors and walls. Its look comes from the hand of the installer, so every surface is unique.
The Velopietra glaze uses about 200 g/m² in total: 160 g/m² of R421 Velopietra KK as the main colour and 40 g/m² of R421 Velopietra PE, PS or PT as the second colour, following the combinations on the colour chart.
Top Clear comes in three transparent finishes: Lucido (gloss), Satinato (satin) and Opaco (matt). ErreLAB recommends Opaco for Pietra Continua.

How Porfido is applied
- Day 1: spread Base Pietra 143 in a single coat of about 1.1 kg/m². For walls, add up to 1% Addensante Liquido thickener. While it’s wet, beat it in parallel horizontal strips, alternating beaten and unbeaten bands, then lightly smooth along the strips.
- Once dry, sand with 80–120 grit discs and vacuum thoroughly.
- Day 2: sponge on Velopietra KK and the accent colour, about 80:20, along the bands, then dab the whole surface with a sponge glove to blend.
- After 6 hours, apply one coat of Top Clear Opaco with a plastic trowel, or one coat of clear Velatura on walls.
