ErreLAB Scisto
Diagonal texture with crystal-like reflections, inspired by the layered structure of schist. The most contemporary of the Pietra Continua finishes.
What it is
Scisto takes its look from schist, a layered stone that catches the light in fine, crystal-like reflections. Base Pietra is spread in one coat, then beaten in alternating diagonal strips at about 45 degrees and lightly smoothed along them.
When it’s dry and sanded, two colours of Velopietra glaze, about 80% main colour and 20% accent, are sponged on and blended along the diagonals. One coat of matt Top Clear, or clear Velatura on walls, protects it.
Scisto is for indoor floors and walls. It moves with the light, so it looks different from every angle.
The Velopietra glaze uses about 200 g/m² in total: 160 g/m² of R421 Velopietra KK and 40 g/m² of the second colour. R303 Base Pietra doesn’t need diluting, and Top Clear Opaco goes on undiluted in a thin coat.
Top Clear comes in three transparent finishes: Lucido (gloss), Satinato (satin) and Opaco (matt). ErreLAB recommends Opaco for Pietra Continua.

How Scisto is applied
- Day 1: spread Base Pietra 143 in a single coat of about 1.1 kg/m². For walls, add up to 1% Addensante Liquido thickener. While it’s wet, beat it in parallel diagonal strips at about 45 degrees, alternating beaten and unbeaten bands, then lightly smooth along the strips.
- Once dry, sand with 80–120 grit discs and vacuum thoroughly.
- Day 2: sponge on Velopietra KK and the accent colour, about 80:20, along the diagonals, then dab the whole surface with a sponge glove to blend.
- After 6 hours, apply one coat of Top Clear Opaco with a plastic trowel, or one coat of clear Velatura on walls.
